February 2022 Special Feature
February is Black History month, a time when we honor the vast contributions of Black Americans, while also examining the effects of the entrenched systemic racism in our society. Systemic racism has created and reinforced financial and health disparities between Black Americans and their white counterparts. As a result black seniors often face greater challenges as they age.
On February 24, 2022 the Department of Aging held a webinar "Older Black Americans & Mental Health". View the webinar Powerpoint here.
For this month we would like to feature the article "Aging While Black: The Crisis Amoung Black Americans as They Grow Old" by Rodney A Brooks, published in The Crisis.
