October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) First observed 30 years ago, Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is now widely recognized as an opportunity to raise the visibility of domestic violence, while also providing survivors, advocates, organizations, and communities across the country with the occasion to connect with each other and honor those who have lost their lives because of domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Awareness Project, a project of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, has created a number of resources for DVAM. Please visit their site to learn more.

New Resource for Trainers! To commemorate DVAM 2017, NCALL will be releasing several new and redesigned resources for trainers. This Trainers’ Toolkit will include interactive exercises, training modules, and a variety of PowerPoint slide sets. Trainers may pick and choose from these components to create or supplement their own abuse in later life training for use in their service programs and communities. Stay tuned to our website throughout the month and visit the For Trainers button to learn more.

Domestic Violence Happens Across the Lifespan -- We Are Here to Help

In an effort to help communities raise awareness of domestic violence in later life, NCALL has created two new customizable posters for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our 2017 posters and other DVAM posters and graphics may be found on NCALL’s Graphics and Media page under the Domestic Violence Awareness Month tab. We also invite you to follow us throughout October on Facebook and Twitter as we honor older survivors of domestic violence and look to engage advocates in providing services and support to older victims in their communities.
