Our Services (Who We Are / What We Do)

Q: What we do:

A.  ECIAAA plans and administers services to older adults to enable them to live in their homes with dignity and safety as long as possible.  We help them to find appropriate support services, prevent premature institutionalization and uphold their rights.

Q.  Where do we get authority?

A.  Area Agencies on Aging receive their direction from the Older American's Act (OAA).  The OAA, signed by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965, outlined objectives to enable older adults to maintain dignity and welfare.  It laid a framework for Area Agencies on Aging to follow while addressing the specific needs of their communities.
